We met at Joan's house tonight to show off our challenge results--self portraits!  Next meeting is at Bobbie's place.

Such a diverse range of images depicting each person.  No labels needed to figure out who did each one.

Mindy couldn't be at the meeting but sent a picture of her self portrait a few days later.

 Bobbie brought a panel she has been working on as part of a tryptich.  

 And here is a detail showing her zigzag blue stitches.

Mary brought a quilt top that she made using mostly her stash.  The border makes the quilt sparkle.

Betsy had two quilt tops, both for donation.  The pink and black one was for Happiness is a Warm Quilt which had a request for a pink and black quilt.

The second quilt top will go to EBHQ for their drive for twin sized quilts.

Our June meeting was held at Betsy's  on a lovely warm evening.  Before I forget, the info on our next challenge is as follows:  We will do a self portrait, the dimensions of which are that the perimeter shall not exceed 80 inches.

Our July meeting will be on Sunday, July 15, and will be our summer potluck at Mindy's house at noon.  The August meeting will be at Deanna's house.

Since it has been a while since our meeting, the narrative for these quilts will be sparse as my memory of each is limited.  Also, I am using an updated version of my photo editing software and the learning curve is steep. 

But, the good news, for me, is that my house has been re-piped and most of the repair to walls has been completed.  Amazing water pressure and new 1.28 toilet.

Joan showed a completed quilt whose pattern was based on a ceiling (I think) that she saw on her travels and has yo-yos in the center.

  
And, if memory serves, she also has some leftover English paper pieced hexagons which will now become a table runner.

Mary has completed the quilting on a darling llama baby quilt.  And be sure to check out the detailed llama quilting in the corners.

 

 Mary also created a quilt from a panel she found at Kiss it Goodbye.  It's a Laurel Burch panel of horses which Mary made into a 9 Patch Pizzazz quilt using fabrics from her stash.

And the back is another quilt with the rest of the panel.

Mindy continues to work on her flower garden trellis with vines.  Here is a detail and you can see the full size in the next photo.

Barbara grabbed back a quilt she had in for quilting at New Pieces just so we could see it at our meeting.

And the back is fun as well.

Marty made a preemie quilt for EBHQ quilt bank.  The parents get to take the quilt home.

Deanna has been working on a baby quilt with a great border.

Here's a better view of the border fabric--Richard Scarry story time--looks like Busy Town.

She is also working on a black, red, and white quilt which has a modern vibe.

Betsy has had some time off of work when her granddaughter was born, and strangely that gave her more quilting time.

For her friend in Alaska who raises chickens, the "Fowl Play" quilt is quilted with feathers and bound, ready to be shipped.  Here is a detail of the feather quilting by Melissa Quilter using the yellow thread I chose.

Here is the front from a panel, cut apart, sashed with ledger fabric and with red corner blocks.  The borders are half of a border panel (with the other half on the back, and the top and bottom have a strip from the front panel that I just couldn't toss that says "Poultry Farm." 

The back is another panel from the "Fowl Play" fabric line with the rest of the border fabric added to make it the right size.  Every little bit of this fabric was used.

I also played with a disappearing hour glass patter to see how it would look, but in a baby quilt in case I got tired of the cutting and resewing.  I like it enough that I may do it again, but in the meantime, a new baby quilt added to my supply for giving away.

I made the quilt small enough to fit a piece of fabric I wanted to use for the back, and it turned out just right for a tummy time quilt.

April 2018 at Marty's

We were few but we were mighty and managed to fill the time talking without realizing how late it was getting.  Marty hosted Barbara, Deanna, and Betsy.  A light rain fell as we arrived and heavier when we left but that didn't dampen our spirits.  And we did a decent job of pigging out on dessert!

Next meeting at Bobbie's new digs.  Bobbie will have to give us directions on how to get to her.

Marty showed us the progress she had made on her tree frog, her chosen subject for Nancy Brown's applique class.  She showed us fabric she will use to add leaves, stems and flowers to the background.  Looks spectacular.

 

Deanna showed us two blocks she had made to be part of Orna's quilt as the gift for her completing her year as President of EBHQ.  Two basket blocks in colors of Orna's preference.

And started on one cruise and finished on a second cruise years later, Deanna showed a glasses case that she had needlepointed.  Cute design with a zipper.

Barbara has made progress on the beach quilt for her granddaughter.  She has two more borders to add in the gold fabric.

And Betsy had just finished the binding on a quilt that Sue Fox quilted for her.  It will be a wedding (or one year anniversary) present for the son of a friend.

 And Betsy showed another quilt top finished for a friend who was the librarian in the town where her mother lived.  This will be a present for Stephanie who wanted blues and greens in her quilt.
